Most international visitors require a visa to enter Mozambique. Some SADC countries benefit from exemptions or visas on arrival — always confirm with the Mozambican embassy or consulate before you travel.
The tourist visa is for short stays: holidays, family visits, tourism, or brief business trips.
Applications can be made at a Mozambican consulate or embassy in your country, or online where available. At some border posts, tourist visas may be issued on arrival — check in advance whether your nationality is eligible.
We recommend starting the process at least 4–6 weeks before travel, especially during peak tourist season.
A standard tourist visa typically allows a 30-day stay, extendable in-country through immigration services. Processing times vary by consulate — usually 5 to 15 business days under normal conditions.

The Government of Mozambique portal (portaldogoverno.gov.mz) is official but published in Portuguese only — there is no separate English version.
