Spouses, minor children, and dependents of Mozambican citizens or holders of valid residence authorization may apply for a family reunification visa. The main applicant (sponsor) must demonstrate the ability to support the family member and provide adequate accommodation.
De facto partners may be eligible upon proof of a stable relationship recognized by authorities. Each family member may require an individual application.
Applications can be made at a Mozambican consulate in the family member's country of origin, or through Migration Services if the applicant is already legally in Mozambique. The Mozambican citizen or resident sponsor must support the process and confirm details with authorities.
After approval, the family member receives an entry visa and may apply for a residence permit (DIRE) linked to the sponsor's status. We recommend starting the process 8–12 weeks before the intended arrival date.
The family visa allows legal residence while the relationship with the sponsor is maintained. Spouses may obtain work authorization through a separate application. Loss of the family bond or the sponsor's status may affect the validity of the residence permit.
