System overview
Mozambique has a free or low-cost public health service with limited capacity in cities and even more restricted access inland. Expatriates and the urban middle class rely mainly on private clinics and hospitals.
Maputo has the best private options (Clínica da Sommerschield, Hospital Privado, Clínica SAD, among others). Beira and Nampula have more modest facilities; medical evacuation to South Africa may be needed for serious cases.
