Immigration & Consular Services

SENAMI, electronic visas, and official consular services — guidance for residents, investors, and visitors in Mozambique.

Updated: May 2026

Immigration in Mozambique is managed by the National Migration Service (SENAMI), which regulates entry, stay, visas, residence permits, and identification documents for foreigners.

Since 2026, tourist visas and electronic travel authorizations (eTA) can be applied for online at evisa.gov.mz — SENAMI's official portal.

Private immigration consultants exist, but only SENAMI and Mozambican embassies/consulates can issue legally valid documents. Always verify credentials before paying intermediary fees.

How to verify immigration consultants

There is no professional body for "immigration consultants" in Mozambique. Anyone charging to fill forms acts as an intermediary — documents are only valid if issued by SENAMI or a Mozambican consulate.

  • Use only evisa.gov.mz for online applications — verify SSL certificate and .gov.mz domain
  • Be wary of sites promising "guaranteed" visas or charging fees far above official rates
  • Request official receipt and process number for any visa-related payment
  • For long-term residence, visit SENAMI in person with complete documentation
  • Private consultants may help organize documents but do not replace official processing
  • Report fraud to the SENAMI Green Line or Criminal Investigation Police (PIC)
