Hospitals & Public Healthcare

MISAU, central and provincial hospitals — reference public institutions for healthcare in Mozambique.

Updated: May 2026

Mozambique's health system is led by the Ministry of Health (MISAU), coordinating central hospitals, a provincial hospital in each province, health centers, and national vaccination and HIV/AIDS programs.

Maputo Central Hospital (HCM) is the main public referral hospital in the capital, with 24-hour emergency services. Each province has a provincial hospital for more complex cases.

Private clinics exist in major cities, but this directory lists only verifiable public institutions. For serious emergencies, go to the nearest public hospital.
